With a first-hand point of view from one of our top wedding photography and content-creation partners, she’s sharing her personal story, expert insights, and behind-the-scenes experience.

Where It All Started

How did you get started in wedding photography and content creation?

  • I began photographing weddings along the Florida Panhandle in 2017, and after relocating to the Lowcountry in 2021, I found the couples in both destinations shared the same appreciation for showcasing meaningful places to their loved ones. Working with couples who grew up vacationing in Kiawah Island or Hilton Head allows me to see firsthand why they love the Lowcountry, and capturing those sentimental details is my favorite part of a wedding day.

When content creation started gaining traction in 2023, I noticed frustration among vendors as more creative partners were added to the day—multiple photographers, videographers, and now a content creator. With a photographer’s eye, I knew I could document high-quality iPhone content while collaborating seamlessly with the team. After moving to Savannah, I had free weekends and used them to offer content creation to couples and vendors. After a strong first year, I added four content creators to the team, and together we documented 30 wedding days this year.

How would you describe your photographic style and content-creation aesthetic?

  • When I am photographing a wedding day, I anticipate the couple's moments and capture them organically as they happen. That's how I create work that's not only beautiful, but meaningful to them. I follow their energy to document honest, emotional photos that reflect their personalities and connection.

When my team and I are content creating, we work with quiet confidence to document the in-between moments that may not translate into a photo. We all have an eye for a great image, and intuitively watch as the day unfolds to capture those sentimental moments.

How do you stay current with evolving trends in content (e.g., short-form video, reels, stories) while preserving timeless wedding photography?

  • Our focus for every wedding day is to document it with intention. Our content creation deliverables avoid trending audio because we want the videos to be timeless. The same sentiment is reflected in my images.  I document the day as it unfolds, from the big moments to the subtle ones they might not even witness in real time. All while staying true to the details they chose for the celebration: the lighting, the textures, and tones. When your creative team focuses solely on the moments that matter, over trendy edits or TikTok sounds, your gallery will be full of unfiltered, beautiful memories.

Workflow & Client Experience

How do you collaborate with the planner, venue team and other key vendors in advance to make the wedding day flow smoothly?

  • Documenting content creation for planners has opened my eyes to so many parts of a wedding day that a photographer or other creative partner doesn't see. Thoughtful design details and intentional decisions shape the couple's wedding day experience. Collaborating with the vendor team is so important. From a site visit alongside a planner before the wedding weekend arrives, to anticipating your couple's needs on wedding day and relaying them to the planning team, to delivering images of details that vendors worked so hard to design, these are all important parts that nurture great vendor partnerships and an incredible experience.

Challenges & Advice

What are common challenges couples face when planning for photography + content and how do you help them navigate those?

  • Two concerns I hear often from couples are that they are anxious about posing because they have never posed for a photographer before, and that they want to stay as present as possible throughout their celebration. Planning a destination wedding can make it more difficult to grow comfortable with your photography team, which can lead to hesitation on wedding day. If you have the opportunity to connect with your photographer before the wedding day, even if it is for a few minutes of portraits at the welcome party, it's worth it. Those moments can ease any anxieties and allow you to be present on wedding day. I named my content creation brand "Love Being In The Moment" because I value creating a comfortable experience that instills confidence in my couple.

How do you handle unexpected changes on the wedding day (schedule shifts, lighting issues, rain, etc.) and still deliver?

  • My experience photographing primarily destination weddings has prepared me for the unexpected. I remain confident and uplift the couple, whatever the scenario may be. At times, the couple isn't even aware of a timeline shift or setback, because I am communicating with the planning team to ensure expectations are met. Packing for a wedding day is more than just packing for myself and my team: bringing back-up photography equipment, umbrellas in case of inclement weather, sprays for stains, sewing pins in case the florist didn't pack any for the boutonnieres. I bring this equipment because I want to anticipate the needs of the couple and their guests, keeping them focused on what is really important: celebrating each other.

Personality & Fit

How do you determine if you’re a good fit for a couple (in terms of personality, style, expectations)?

  • After a conversation with the couple, I learn what they are looking forward to on the wedding day and how they want to feel throughout the celebration. This insight lets me know that our priorities for their imagery align, and that we share similar values when it comes to photography. I love connecting with them and seeing what details about their day really excite them. Once I learn what elements ignite their passion for each other and their guests' experience, I know their celebration will be a special one, and I would be honored to document it.

What’s one big misconception about hiring a wedding photographer?

  • One big misconception about hiring a wedding photographer is that they have to have the latest and greatest technology to photograph your day. The Pinterest-blog questions couples ask during a phone consultation usually include "what type of camera gear do you use?". The gear is only one element in photographing your day. The artistry comes from the photographer's experience, their calm presence during thoughtful moments, and their passion for telling your story.

Lastly, what’s your favorite wedding that you’ve worked on with Allison Event Design? What made it so special?

  • We have worked so many incredible weddings together, from serving couples directly to documenting behind-the-scenes for AED. Each celebration had memorable moments, whether it was the design or the special details the couple dreamed up to make their event so personal. One that I think of often was Jenna and Dylan's wedding day at Palmetto Bluff. It was the first wedding I worked alongside your team. Their thoughtful vows, getting ready at Dylan's parents' home, and Jenna's incredible way to honor her late dad during the father-daughter dance made a bittersweet memory seem full of light and personality.

Where Inspiration Meets Intention

In the end, your wedding day is a collection of moments that deserve to be preserved with intention. Choosing the right creative team ensures every memory is captured with the care it deserves.
