What makes Montage Palmetto Bluff a unique destination for weddings compared to other Southern venues?

  • We have the picturesque backdrop of the Spanish-moss draped Oak Trees and views of the May River, showcasing the charm of Southern living. But what makes us truly unique is that our property spans 20,000 acres and is home to several event spaces. So, whether you are looking to host an intimate gathering, or a grand affair, we can surely bring your dream to life.

Are there particular spaces on property that are most popular for ceremonies or receptions?

  • Our most popular location on property is the Wilson Village. With amazing views of the May River, along with the lush branches of the ancient oak trees, you are surrounded by natural beauty in every direction. The May River Chapel provides a romantic setting for your ceremony. Just steps away, the May River Lawn welcomes guests beneath towering oaks draped in Spanish moss for cocktail hour. Afterward, guests can stroll over to the River House for an elegant dinner in the Oak Ballroom, complemented by a wrap around veranda with breathtaking views of the river.

An Itinerary Full of Experiences

As guests travel from near and far to celebrate your special day, it’s important that their experience is just as memorable as yours. One of the many perks of hosting a destination wedding is giving loved ones the chance to truly enjoy the setting beyond the ceremony itself and Montage Palmetto Bluff makes that effortless.

Between wedding events, guests can explore an itinerary packed with world-class dining, outdoor adventures, and ultimate relaxation at the spa. It’s a destination that transforms your wedding weekend into a full-scale Lowcountry experience: luxurious, welcoming, and unforgettable from start to finish.

What are some of the guest experiences or amenities that couples love to highlight for their family and friends?

  • The wide array of activities available for guests of all ages and interests. Whether your loved ones are seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of friendly competition, there’s truly something for everyone.

How does the property support multi-day wedding celebrations?

  • Our property spans 20,000 acres with multiple event venues throughout. There is no place better than Moreland Landing to welcome your guests to the Lowcountry. Situated on the May River, Moreland Landing offers spectacular views of the water and is complete with a fire pit where fresh Lowcountry oysters are steamed for a traditional oyster roast. Looking to host a grand celebration for wedding day? Village Green, located in the heart of Wilson Village, is home to the historic ruins of the Wilson Mansion, which once hosted some of the most extravagant southern parties in the 1900s. The Village Green is the ideal location to put a tent to host your wedding dinner and dance the night away. Before your guests depart on Sunday morning, wish them a fond farewell with brunch on the Sunrise Lawn – nestled at the back of the inn and framed by the lagoon waterways and maritime forest it is the perfect way to wrap up your wedding weekend.

Behind the Scenes: Logistics & Planning

As your wedding planning journey begins, it’s essential to consider the logistics and timelines that will bring your vision to life. While design and aesthetics are exciting, there’s so much more that goes on behind the scenes to ensure your day unfolds seamlessly, especially for a destination wedding. Here’s their advice on how to not get lost in the visual details alone.

What advice would you give couples who are just starting to explore the venue for their wedding?

  • Start first by determining what style of reception you want, along with a rough guest count. Do you want to host a formal seated dinner? Or do you envision an evening that features an array of culinary activations? This will help you narrow in on which event spaces can accommodate your guest count.

Do you have tips for couples planning destination weddings to ensure a smooth experience?

  • Our biggest tip for couples planning a destination wedding is to lean into the local vendors. They know the ins and outs of the destination – everything from weather patterns to town rules and ordinances. Having a team of local professionals will ease the load and make things run much smoother.

How do you typically collaborate with wedding planners, designers, and other vendors throughout the process? How important are planners to the experience?

  • Consistent and transparent communication amongst planners, designers and the vendor team is key to a successful wedding weekend. While each member of your wedding team has a unique part to play, they are all very much intertwined. The wedding planner is an invaluable part of this team. They serve as an advocate to the couple, help to streamline decisions, manage timelines, and at the end of the day, bring your vision to life. Their expertise allows you to relax and truly enjoy the celebration, knowing that every detail is being handled with care. Our goal is ultimately to support the planning team to make sure everything runs seamlessly.
