Vendor Spotlight: Wither & Bloom Designs

Wedding planning isn’t a one-person-show. It’s a vision brought to life through many sets of eyes with expertise, hands with dedicated skill, and hearts fully invested in making every detail meaningful. As wedding planners, we’re lucky to collaborate with an incredible network of top-tier vendors - people who are not only exceptionally talented at what they do, but also an absolute joy to work with.

The truth is, we couldn’t do it without them. So, in the spirit of gratitude, we’re shining a light on some of our most trusted creative partners. These florists, photographers, caterers, musicians, and overall makers and doers help us turn the ideas behind our weddings and events into a true reality that surpasses all expectations.

Behind every seamless celebration is a team of humans pouring their hearts into it and they deserve their moment in the spotlight, while we give you a sneak peak into the depths of their work. To kick off this series, we’ve interviewed the exceptional talent behind Wither & Bloom Designs: a team of florists creating immersive and curated arrangements inspired by nature.

Behind the Blooms: Style & Story

Behind each stunning creation lies a story and at Wither & Bloom, floral design is not just a craft, but a mastered art form. We believe that each element of design should feel authentic, like a natural extension of who the couple is. From color choices to structure and movement, every piece that is created should be rooted in personal connection and thoughtful design, including your wedding day florals. Here’s what our partners think of design, trends, and standing out:

  • How would you describe your design style?

Wither and Bloom Designs' signature look is a fresh approach to garden-style floral design. We honor the natural movements of each stem, resulting in designs that can feel both organic and clean, much like nature itself.

  • What sets your floral work apart from others in the industry?

My background in art and sculpture has given me a strong design eye, especially in color theory and installation design. My husband, who also has an art and building background, and I work as a team. This unique combination makes us exceptionally qualified for creating large-scale, custom installations for any event.

  • Are there any trends you're loving right now—or trends you'd love to see go away?

I'm currently loving the draping trend! I enjoy seeing how florals and draping can complement each other, allowing the flowers to truly "pop."

Floral Focus: Working with Clients

A successful design process is built on equal parts collaboration and trust between the couples, wedding planners, and their creative teams. While your wedding planner will take the lead in assembling a dream team of vendors, including your florist, the process is always a joint effort. From the start, couples work closely with their planner to ensure every design decision feels intentional, cohesive, and true to their vision.

Here’s a glimpse into what that collaboration looks like (and a few common misconceptions we often clear up along the way):

  • What does your process look like when working with a couple from start to finish?

We primarily work with clients through wedding planners, so our process typically begins with a discussion about the design direction with the planner. From there, we create a custom floral proposal that includes detailed line items, pricing, color palette, and inspiration images. Once clients are ready to book, they sign off on the quote and proposal. We then continue to update and evolve the floral design to ensure cohesiveness with all additional design elements, such as tabletop rentals. It's common for our original quote and design to be adapted and even increased after booking, which we fully expect. The initial proposal serves as a starting point that we build upon throughout the planning process.

Depending on the wedding planner's process, we sometimes create a mockup floral tablescape to accompany the rental options. Other times, we have a detailed virtual meeting, as we often work with clients from various locations. We begin the flower ordering process about a month before the event date and finalize the order two weeks in advance. We try to give our clients a preview of the flowers we plan to order, while also letting them know that we will ultimately choose what looks best and is wedding-ready.

  • Are there any misconceptions couples tend to have about floral design?

We often find that couples are surprised by the extensive preparation involved before the wedding week itself. Our process includes months of collaborative work with all vendors to ensure every floral detail contributes seamlessly to a perfect wedding day. We always want our clients to know that they don't need to be floral experts; we're here to handle everything for them.

  • What should couples keep in mind when allocating their floral budget? How do you adapt your designs for different seasons, venues, or budgets?

Like most wedding elements, flowers can be a significant expense. We are committed to helping our clients effectively allocate their budgets and understand how to make the most impact with their florals. We also offer multiple creative ideas to craft truly impactful "moments" throughout their special day, depending on their chosen wedding venue.
A key part of our process involves getting to know our clients' priorities. We always ask if the ceremony, dinner, or dancing is the element they are most excited about. This helps us focus our efforts and make the most of their investment in those key areas. We're also always happy to offer multiple options at various price points, ensuring our clients receive beautiful designs that align with their budget.

  • How do you help couples choose flowers that reflect their personality and style? What advice do you have for couples when it comes to their wedding flowers?

I find that this process is usually a collaborative effort between myself and the wedding planner. It often takes time and multiple conversations to help our clients determine the display style they envision for their wedding. I facilitate this through in-depth discussions, complemented by descriptive proposals and illustrative images. I always ask clients not only what photos they like, but also what they don't like, and why. I utilize a lot of reflective listening to truly shape the design and ensure it genuinely reflects their personalities.

My advice for clients regarding their wedding flowers is to trust their planner and the vendors they recommend. Planners know their clients best and will only recommend a florist they believe is a good fit. We also try to encourage our clients to trust and enjoy the entire process! I believe this makes for the best wedding day experience for the couple.

  • What’s something you wish more planners/couples understood about floral design?

It's not a perfect formula, and we actually like it that way! We strive to create enough structure and maintain clear communication to ensure everyone is aligned. However, we also believe in leaving room for creative freedom in the week leading up to the wedding. Another important aspect is that beyond designing fresh products, packing, transporting, and delivering, we also dedicate time on-site to tweak and add touch-up flowers to each arrangement. Furthermore, all of our installations are created on-site to ensure they fit the space perfectly.

Growing Together: Working with Wedding Planners

The best wedding experiences come from teams rooted in collaboration, trust, and a shared creative vision. At Allison Event Design, we’ve had the pleasure of partnering with some truly talented vendors and the relationships that we’ve built over the years make all the difference in bringing a wedding day to life. Here’s what Wither & Bloom shared about working together:

  • Is there a particular wedding or project we've worked on together that stands out to you? Why?

I genuinely enjoy every wedding we have the pleasure of working on together. However, if I had to pick a stand out memory, it would definitely be Lauren and James' tented spring wedding. The rentals that Allison Event Design selected for that event were absolutely stunning, and our entire team particularly loved the linens. I also really enjoyed how we were able to add a subtle "moody" touch to the spring flowers.

  • What do you think makes a strong planner–florist partnership?

Trust & friendship. I believe that a mutual respect for each other's roles and talents creates a strong foundation for successful collaboration. I also think that spending time together outside of event work to get to know each other personally is incredibly important for building a solid working relationship.
