Vendor Spotlight: Loyer Films

Whether your event unfolds in a charming East Coast setting like New England, Highlands, NC, or Charleston, SC, or in a dreamy destination across the globe, one truth remains: you’ll want to relive your wedding day again and again. While we can’t rewind time, we can ensure you have the right team to preserve every detail. That’s why we love introducing our couples to talented vendors like Loyer Films, who capture your story with artistry and intention, creating a keepsake you’ll treasure forever.

As a boutique destination wedding film house, we’ve had the joy of collaborating with Loyer Films on unforgettable events, where they beautifully document the essence and significance of each couple’s day. Now, they’re sharing their top insights and must-knows for couples preparing to say “I do.”

Style & Inspiration

The goal: create visual masterpieces that not only document your special day, but also evoke the same emotions and memories every time they are revisited. That said, understanding style and inspiration is important. It’s more than just a film, it’s storytelling at its best. Here’s how they describe their own:

How would you describe your videography style?

I’d describe our videography style as a blend of polished, cinematic storytelling with candid, heartfelt moments woven throughout. We especially love when couples choose to include Super 8—it brings a nostalgic, intimate texture that beautifully contrasts the refined look of digital footage. Those imperfect little details on film have a way of making everything feel even more personal and timeless.

What inspires your creative approach to each wedding?

What inspires us most are the design, the setting, and the interactions throughout the wedding day. Many of our couples choose destination weddings—sometimes even ones that feel like a getaway close to home—and they put incredible thought into every detail with their planning teams. We put a lot of care into showcasing those elements, so when you watch the film, it feels like you’ve truly been transported back to that place and moment.

How do you tailor your video style to match the couple's personality or vision? Do you prefer working with couples who give you creative freedom, or those with a strong vision?

We love collaborating with our couples to bring their story to life, but we also want them to know that we’re attuned to every detail of the day. From the music that sets the tone, to the guest experiences woven throughout the weekend, and all the little in-between moments—we’re always looking for the elements that make the film feel unmistakably like you.

Planning & Coordination

Like any good wedding, thoughtful planning and seamless logistics are essential, even right down to the smallest details and close coordination with vendors. It's this behind-the-scenes work that ensures everything comes together effortlessly, allowing the couple (and their guests) to fully enjoy the magic of the day. Here’s how planning works with a videographer team:

How early do you usually start working with a couple before the wedding? What does your planning process with the couple look like?

Most couples book us around nine months in advance. Nearly all of our touch points are through planners, which allows the process to feel seamless and stress-free for couples. Our approach is very hands-off—we think of ourselves first and foremost as documentary-style filmmakers, letting the day unfold naturally and capturing it as it truly happens.

How do you handle last-minute changes or unexpected events on the day?

We pride ourselves on our flexibility—it’s truly one of our greatest strengths as a videography team. Weddings rarely go exactly according to plan, and our run-and-gun approach allows us to adapt seamlessly to whatever the day brings, ensuring every moment is captured beautifully.

How do you stay aligned with the photographer and planner to avoid overlap or conflict during the event?

We’re a very photographer-friendly team and often take cues from their leadership throughout the wedding day. Our goal is to ensure it never feels like there are two separate production teams pulling you in different directions. It’s your wedding day—not a staged production—so we work seamlessly alongside photographers to capture moments naturally, without ever asking couples to repeat them. At the end of the day, we want it to feel like we’re all on the same team.

Have you ever worked without a wedding planner? How did that change your process?

For us, having a planner isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s a must. At this point, we only take on weddings where a planner is involved from the very beginning. They’re such an important part of making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable—not just for us, but especially for our couples. Almost all of our communication runs through planners, which keeps things stress-free for you and allows us to stay fully focused on documenting the story of the weekend. Their work behind the scenes makes it possible for us to capture both the beautiful design details and the real, candid moments without distraction.

Real Moments, Really Captured

With all the work that goes into blending your love story into a reality, each and every moment is special, but with thoughtfully captured moments, they’re unforgettable.
